ER WOO: THE ECHOS OF TRADITION

Short Documentary Film Roles: Scriptwriter, Designer Made for: RP (STA) Advanced Single Camera Production Module

Synopsis: The documentary shows ‘Er Woo Amateur Musical & Dramatic Association’ and their efforts to preserve their traditional art form in modern Singapore, where youth interest in such heritage is getting increasingly rare. The story explores the passion of the older generation in keeping this art form alive, the challenges they face, and the rare sight of young people being involved in this craft.

For this assessment, we were tasked to (hypothetically) help to create a YouTube documentary which features an element of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), that appeals to youth between 18-35 years of age. As the scriptwriter, I wrote the AV script, interview questions in collaboration with the director, and YouTube titles. As the designer, I created YouTube thumbnails in different styles, that aligned with the tone and branding of the documentary. On set, I acted as a production assistant, helping in all areas of the production.
